Factorio will receive a new function, which was considered too hardcore for a long time

With the release of Space Age, the strategic game Factorio will receive an interesting function, which for several years asked the most avid fans of the game. However, the developers considered it "Too hardcore".

We are talking about the so -called parameterized drawings – a customer tool that will allow the player to indicate certain parameters in the interface window, which, in turn, will affect the shape of a number of buildings. This will allow, for example, to effectively and quickly build several necessary drawings in the game, while preserving the possibilities of customization.

Parameterized drawings will not have a specific configuration of the object. Instead, they will function as a general formula for which players can indicate a number of specified parameters. When we decide to use a certain preset, a window with details will appear on the screen that will need to be determined.

It is important that this option will even establish the dependence of some parameters on others. This means that each of them will not need to be set separately if some are already set and are related to dependence. For example, it will be possible to establish that the second numerical parameter in this design always doubles the value of the first, so that during construction it will be necessary to fill out only one field.

However, let’s get back to the beginning. Why did Factorio developers still decided to introduce such an advanced function into the game? As the chief designer of the game Michal "Kovarex" Kovarik, the reason for the change of decision was the experience that over the years of work taught developers that players who love construction simulators cannot be underestimated.

However, this tool is mainly intended for "hardcore" players. This is evidenced by the fact that Kovarex compares it with programming.

Factorio has already been compared many times with programming, and this tool is just another part of this analogy.

Although the function in question is already completed, we do not know exactly when it will appear in Factorio. This is due to the fact that we are unknown to the release date of DLC Space Age. It is expected that it will be released in 2024.
